Abstract

Dunhuang murals, as the largest cave group of murals in the world, are rich in image expression and profound cultural deposits, reflecting the religious beliefs, ethics and historical changes of ancient society. In order to promote the protective work of Dunhuang murals, literature research and comprehensive induction methods were used to analyze the patterns, historical materials, and artistic aesthetic designs of Dunhuang murals. Taking Dunhuang frescoes as the research object, the research focuses on the analysis of the cultural logic thinking of the image expression in the frescoes. The research found that the images of Dunhuang frescoes are basically at the core, and these images reflect the open and integrated religious ideas of ancient Chinese people, and also an important embodiment of the lifestyle and folk customs of Tang Dynasty people. The Dunhuang murals express the Tang Dynasty's borrowing logic from early feudal culture, reception logic of foreign religious culture, and reorganization logic of moral culture through the display of religious and life elements and other imagery. The use of imagery in murals reflects the thinking patterns and cultural characteristics of ancient people, while the cultural logical thinking of murals also provides us with a new perspective to understand and study ancient culture. The analysis of the imagery and cultural logic of Dunhuang murals can promote the integration of modern visual art with traditional elements and culture, and help inherit and promote traditional Chinese visual art.
