You\u2019d think that as Hathway is such a huge star in Hollywood, she\u2019d be used to people calling her by her name and not think much of it \u2013 however, this isn\u2019t the case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The actress says that her name \u2018doesn\u2019t fit\u2019 her and that no one in her life uses it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During an appearance on\u00a0The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon<\/em>, the host asked Hathaway:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019ve known you for a pretty long time now. I\u2019ve heard people call you Annie, like your good friends. Do I call you Anne or Annie?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The actress responded: \u201cCall me Annie! Everybody, everybody, call me Annie \u2013 please!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She explained that she began going by Anne professionally at 14 as she needed a Screen Actors Guild membership card.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At this time, Hathaway had no idea how successful she would become and that people would begin to constantly refer to her by her birth name and not her preferred nickname.<\/p>\n\n\n
