A Stephen King book has been pulled from shelves and it\u2019s unlikely it will ever be printed again.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u2018King of Horror\u2019 is behind some of the most terrifying stories of all time, including \u2018The Shining\u2019 and \u2018IT\u2019 \u2013 which have been turned into\u00a0films.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of his novels has become one of the most sought-after of all time, but it\u2019s not because it\u2019s popular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a 2013 essay titled \u2018Guns,\u2019 the bestselling author explained that he wrote the book in \u2018a different world.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

He penned: \u201cI suppose if it had been written today, and some high school English teacher had seen it, he would have rushed the manuscript to the guidance counselor and I would have found myself in therapy posthaste.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBut 1965 was a different world, one where you didn\u2019t have to take off your shoes before boarding a plane and there were no metal detectors at the entrances to high schools.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

King\u2019s book has been inextricably tied to several disturbing events, despite being written long before any tragedies unfolded.<\/p>\n\n\n

In 1988, a student held his high school humanities class hostage before backing out. According to the\u00a0Los Angeles Times, the boy cited the novel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

A year later, a school senior held his classmates hostage for nine hours and it was reported<\/a> that King\u2019s book was found in his locker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 1996, a 14-year-old killed two students and a teacher. He reportedly had a copy of King\u2019s work on his nightstand, per\u00a0History Link.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, in 1997, another 14-year-old student shot students, killing three. He is believed to have had a copy of King\u2019s work in his locker, reports\u00a0The Guardian.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u2018Rage\u2019 was published in 1977 under the alias Richard Bachman. King released it in 1985 as a part of a collection of short novels called \u2018The Bachman Books.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the author decided to let it go out of print, it briefly remained in the collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The psychological thriller follows a troubled high school student who brings a gun to school, kills one of his teachers, and takes the class hostage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the shooter\u2019s perspective, it makes for an uncomfortable and disturbing read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

King reportedly took inspiration from his teenage years and frustrations when writing the book.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In BookFinder.com\u2019s 2013\u00a0list\u00a0of the 100 most sought-after out-of-print books, \u2018Rage\u2019 is ranked at number two \u2013 with\u00a0Madonna\u2018s \u2018S**\u2019 topping the charts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Used copies of \u2018Rage\u2019 can be found online but prices range from $700 to over $2,000.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a footnote of his 2007 novel \u2018Blaze,\u2019 King writes of \u2018Rage\u2019: \u201cNow out of print, and a good thing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
