Anne Hathaway recently went\u00a0viral<\/a>\u00a0after sharing that she\u00a0wants everyone to stop<\/a>\u00a0calling her \u2018Anne,\u2019 while Chris Pratt says he doesn\u2019t like being called Chris and it\u2019s\u00a0not his real name<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, people are also discovering Witherspoon\u2019s real name.<\/p>\n\n\n

After hearing the A-lister isn\u2019t actually called Reese Witherspoon, fans have rushed to social media and shared their surprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

One person says: \u201cNever did I know that wasn\u2019t her real name.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another asks: \u201cWait, Reese has a real name?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI feel lied to!\u201d writes a third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A fourth fan comments: \u201cWell, she will always be Reese Witherspoon to me.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her breakthrough role was in Legally Blonde<\/em> (2001), where she played Elle Woods, a sorority queen who attempts to win back her ex-boyfriend by attending Harvard Law School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The romantic comedy put Witherspoon on the map and, according to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, she\u2019s now one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The A-lister is known for producing several female-led adaptions and in 2017, she took on the role of executive producer for the HBO drama series Big Little Lies<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The show, starring Nicole Kidman, Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Shailene Woodley, and Zo\u00eb Kravitz, follows a group of women in Monterey, California, who become entangled in a murder investigation.<\/p>\n\n\n

The HBO drama has been critically praised, with its first season receiving 16 Primetime Emmy Awards nominations, of which it won eight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Earlier this year, Witherspoon and her Big Little Lies<\/em> co-star Kidman sat down for an interview with Vanity Fair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In their chat, Witherspoon reminded everyone of her real name.<\/p>\n\n\n

It came out when the actress referenced her and Kidman\u2019s co-star, Dern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Kidman interjected, saying: \u201cI hate how you call her Dern though!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Witherspoon asked why, the Aussie legend responded: \u201cBecause it sounds weird!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Legally Blonde<\/em> star then confirmed why she refers to her co-star by her last name rather than her first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDo you know why? Because my name is Laura and her name is Laura and it\u2019s confusing to me,\u201d Witherspoon said, whose full name is Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It appears Kidman herself had forgotten the star\u2019s real name, as she responded: \u201cOh! That\u2019s right.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Witherspoon added: \u201cSo I get confused and just call her Dern. We can\u2019t both be Laura.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reese is the star\u2019s mother\u2019s maiden name, which she took on at the beginning of her acting career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
