Credit SBS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>One person fumes: \u201cBoomers are evil, bragging about overseas holidays and spending all their money so their kids have no inheritance.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--nextpage-->\n\n\n\n<p>In agreement, another adds: \u201cBoomer privilege at its best and still not conscious of it. So entitled.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Others have taken to the couple\u2019s defense and said they should be able to do what they want with their money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s their money, they earned it, they can spend it how they want. Besides, if either of them needs care in later life it would have gone on that, so they might as well enjoy themselves while they can!\u201d writes someone else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A second person comments: \u201cIt\u2019s not a parent\u2019s job to leave their children an inheritance. Their job is to love, feed, clothe, and teach them to survive on their own. Credit: SBS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Leanne and Leon Ryland, from Victoria,\u00a0Australia, revealed their plans to spend their two adult sons\u2019 potential inheritance on the SBS program\u00a0<em>Insight<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They disclosed that they had already spent $114,631 on exploring global landmarks. They\u2019ve visited numerous destinations, including Machu Picchu in Peru, India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--nextpage-->\n\n\n\n<p>Humorously, they said their sons would inherit a \u2018shelf of s***\u2019 from their travels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The couple decided to splash the cash after consulting a financial planner who advised them to enjoy their wealth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leanne said: \u201cHe said, \u2018You\u2019re crazy if you don\u2019t retire when you can because you\u2019ll spend most of your wealth on travel or whatever in the first 10 years, and then after that it slows down.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s changing our mindset. You get into a phase now where you actually spend instead of save.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now, they\u2019re encouraging others to do the same.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/igvofficial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/08\/Screenshot-2024-08-05-at-16.03.13.png?ezimgfmt=ng:webp\/ngcb1\" alt=\"\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The \u2018baby boomer\u2019 couple is encouraging others to follow in their footsteps. Credit: SBS<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>The Rylands have created a Facebook group called SKIclub, an acronym for \u2018spending kids inheritance,\u2019 to support other retirees and create a space for travel tips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Leanne said: \u201cWe\u2019re not going to be able to spend all this money so let\u2019s do it now because in another 10 years, we won\u2019t be climbing the Great Wall of China.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--nextpage-->\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe won\u2019t be going up Machu Picchu. We won\u2019t be doing those things. So we\u2019ve gotta do it now because what else is there?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the Rylands have drawn criticism for their attitude, one of their sons has defended their choice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On\u00a0<em>Insight<\/em>, he said: \u201cIt\u2019s their money.
